No, Animated Dads Aren’t Getting Hotter
One of those moments like a cat woke up by a moron, all you can do is sigh and try to go back to sleep.

This is what passes for an article in one of the U.S.A’s last remaining ‘serious’ newspapers, the New York Times (it’s also America’s third most read newspaper – however figures are inflated by massive sales abroad to university archives, etc. as it is regarded as a newspaper of ‘historical record’).
Usually this sort of kiddy level crap is only found in The Guardian, although they would have moaned that Raya should have been turned into a transgender icon and that the film is ‘racist’ (in the topsy turvy world of the Scott Trust cult, everything that isn’t them is racist, transphobic and climate change denial. Hubristic puritanism may change its syntax over the centuries, but never the love of the smell of its own farts).
Being sexually attracted to a cartoon character isn’t new. Animators have been pushing those buttons since Tex Avery’s ‘Red Hot Riding Hood‘ brillantly parodied tired cartoon scripts cut and paste from fairy tales or Aesop’ fables and tired Hollywood ‘sizzler’ scripts with whatever were that year’s ‘hot couple’.
Disney were even moved to acknowledge the monster they’re created inadvertantly in Frozen II with Olaf’s parody of the ‘sexy Elsa’ trope when playing charades.
If you think animation studios didn’t have an eye on all those increasing numbers of single mothers taking their children to the cinema biologically turned in to seeking out ‘ideal father figures for my child’, you haven’t been paying attention at the ways fathers (and parents in general) slowly ceased being ‘nuisance’ figures to the protagunists (as in the classic era of animation) getting in their way and more ones whose love and approval were sought.

Therefore, no Kyle Buchanan, animated dads aren’t getting particularly any hotter. It’s probably just your favourite masturbation fantasies from ‘Riverdale’ or wherever aren’t doing it for you any more in lockdown. Never mind – there’s always the Buffy and Angel reruns on somewhere where the last three pitiful series were nothing more than episode after tortuous episode of fan service.
